Emerging from the dynamic streets of Conant Gardens in Detroit, Slum Village is not just a music group, but a close-knit brotherhood tied together by friendship and their shared musical passions. Established in the early 1990s by T3, Baatin, and the iconic J Dilla (also known as Jay Dee), the group quickly became a cornerstone in Detroit's hip-hop scene.
J Dilla’s, enduring influence continued to shape the group, with his protégé and Grammy-nominated producer Young RJ stepping in as a rapper in 2009. T3 and Young RJ’s stewardship, Slum Village has continued to innovate, producing revered albums such as "Trinity" with the standout track "Tainted," and "Detroit Deli," featuring the popular single “Selfish” with Kanye West and John Legend.
T3 and Young RJ have been instrumental in preserving and expanding the group's legacy, leading to later albums like "Villa Manifesto" and "YES," which includes posthumous productions by Dilla. Today, Slum Village remains a celebrated name in the world of Detroit hip-hop. With over a decade of collaboration, T3 and Young RJ stay true to the group’s founding ethos while introducing new vitality and a contagious zest.

Pete Rock
would often accompany his father to a cricket club called Wembley in the Bronx and watch as he spun records for the people present. Pete Rock’s first major exposure to the hip-hop audience was in 1987 with Marley Marl, as a DJ on New York’s WBLS radio show “In Control With Marley Marl.” The 16 year old was recognized by the listening audience as the man “putting in work’’ as he would use double copies of each record to cut up every song he played, when most New York DJs would only use double copies on every 3rd and 4th song. Propelled by the growth of his popularity, he began producing in the early 1990’s.
In 1991 he joined with CL Smooth to release the EP All Souled Out. Two full-length
albums followed, 1992’2 Mecca and The Soul Brother considered by many to be a
classic and 1994’s The Main Ingredient. Both albums were released to wide critical
acclaim, cementing their positions as classics in hip hop history. Soon after The Main Ingredient, the duo went their separate ways.
90’s, Pete Rock was able to forge a relationship with Loud Records, allowing him to release his solo album Soul Survivor in the summer of 1998. Pete Rock continued to release solo albums including Petestrumentals in 2001 and Soul Survivor II in May of 2004 which earned Pete Rock a nomination for The Source Awards “Independent Album of the Year” category.

Hezekiah
Hezekiah has deep roots in the Philly hip-hop scene, originally moving to Philadelphia to work with The Roots and later building an extensive career as both an artist and producer. His credits and collaborations include Bilal, Freeway, Bahamadia, Musiq Soulchild, Blu, Eric Roberson, Talib Kweli, T3 of Slum Village, and Zap Mama, among others. He is also the founder of Beat Society, the producer showcase that helped create an early platform for producers including Kanye West, !llmind, and Diplo.
