Like most good stories, Groupie’s begins with a Craigslist ad. This ad starts with an honest confession: Let’s get this out of the way first - I have no official music experience. Since that fateful ad in fall of 2015, Groupie has been grinding on the Brooklyn scene. Their songs are deeply personal yet also political, such as ‘Daleko’, a song largely in Polish about immigration. Ephemeral, their debut album released in 2021, is a ten-track introspection on the ephemerality of life, memories, and heroes, seamlessly melding their shoegaze, riot grrrl, and post-punk influences. Their latest single ‘No Chaser’ signals an evolution in their sound, glossier and with driving, catchy choruses that beg for honesty. The same message is at the heart of the band: all you need is heart, moxie, and something to say.
