The Bogmen
Formed in 1992 and signed in 1995 by Arista Records, The Bogmen have always been known for their high energy live shows with heavy crowd participation. They say that one of two things happens when a band breaks up, they are quickly forgotten or the legend grows and the latter has certainly been the case with The Bogmen. The band split up in 1999 with Billy & Brendan Ryan going on to form Mad Larry and later Gordon Gano & The Ryans, whilst Billy Campion reinvented himself as Vic Thrill, taking bassist Mark Wike with him and percussionist PJ O’Connor was scooped up by dance-punk sensations Radio 4. Despite their breakup in ’99, the members of The Bogmen came back together in December of 2001 after keyboard player Brendan Ryan’s wife was killed in the attacks on the World Trade Center. From that point on a pact was made to make music for a higher purpose putting things like love and charity over fame and fortune. The story of the band’s rebirth is best told in the documentary film WE WILL GO TO THEM TONIGHT directed by Chris Cassidy available on Vimeo (https://vimeo.com/253441271?
In 2010 they released an EP called Lookin’ For Heaven In The Barrio and then Campion was reunited with the Ryan brothers in their hometown of Huntington, NY in August of 2020, in the heart of the pandemic after the tragic death of a lifelong friend and supporter of the band, which led to the creation of their first full length album in over 20 years - In My Kingdom (released 5/31/24) available both digitally and on vinyl.
Since their first shows back in 2021, the band has enjoyed some of their best years performing live, selling upwards of 10,000 tickets in the New York area alone, many of whom are new fans from 18-25 years old. The legend continues to grow!
