Artist Info
Don McCloskey
Don McCloskey is an eclectic singer-songwriter and performing artist who infuses the traditional folk idiom with elements of psychedelic rock, electronica, and synth pop. Since the release of his 4th studio album, The Chaos and the Beauty, and a recent appearance on NPR Live Sessions, Don McCloskey and his eight-piece band have been on a tear of sold-out shows in their native Philadelphia including a two-night stint at The Met in support of the It’s Always Sunny Podcast.
The Chaos and The Beauty, recorded live to analogue tape in DUMBO, is an unapologetically infectious throw-back to the singer-songwriter pop of his youth (Peter’s Gabriel’s So, Paul Simon’s Graceland, Talking Heads’ Remain in Light). The album single, “First in Flight,” has received national radio play, has been streamed over 2 million times, and was prominently featured in the Season 2 Finale of the Apple TV series, Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet. Songs from his previous albums have appeared in podcasts, television/streaming series, and film including the Academy Award-winning documentary, Bowling for Columbine.
Don cut his teeth writing and performing as part of the same anti-folk scene in NYC that gave birth to Beck, Regina Spektor, and The Moldy Peaches. His standing-room-only shows at the Lower East Side’s Sidewalk Café became a regular event for a decade. He’s earned a dedicated following nationally by headlining hundreds of shows and sharing stages with a diverse roster of artists including Raekwon, Questlove, Donavon Frankenreiter, The White Buffalo, and G. Love and Special Sauce among many others.
The long-time Brooklyn resident is excited to return to the neighborhood playing Brooklyn Bowl on May 10th with his eight-piece band and Will Leet from Sammy Rae and The Friends and Alicia Walter kicking the night off.
Will Leet
Will Leet is a Brooklyn based singer-songwriter, also known as the lead guitarist of Sammy Rae & the Friends. Self described as “campfire rock with a city groove,” Will's music is an eclectic mix of rock, folk, country and baroque pop, with influences ranging from Kacey Musgraves to the Beatles. Joined by his band, “The NYC Cowboys,” Leet will take you on a sonic journey through poignant acoustic songs to extended rock n’ roll jams.
On September 20th, 2022, Will released his debut full length record, ‘Come Back Roses.’ This community-sourced, crowdfunded project was the product of 7 years of songwriting with lyricist Chris Burns. Recorded during the pandemic across five studios in 3 different states, it involved no fewer than 25 different musicians. When life was put on hold in 2020, Will had nothing left to do but turn to these songs. ‘Come Back Roses’ is a hope that the simple joys in life will return again.
