15-exxl Led by Paul Weller, the Style Council expertly combined ’80s soul and New Wave pop with a side of social criticism. They released five stellar albums over the course of six years before Weller and his bandmates moved on to other projects. But their impressive catalogue remains. And to that end, an 11-piece tribute band—complete with horns and an organ—has sprung up to keep the music alive. The Style Councillors (below, performing “Ever Had It Blue”) will take you right back to the beginning on a trip through one of Weller’s best periods as a songwriter. The Style Council may be gone, but the Style Councillors are here to stay. See them perform live on Friday night at Brooklyn Bowl London.
