Donuts Are Forever

Donuts Are Forever™ (established in 2007) is Rare Form's annual fundraiser and tribute inspired by the life and music of late producer James "J Dilla" Yancey. The name Donuts Are Forever™ (DAF) pays homage to J Dilla's last album, Donuts, released posthumously in February 2006, when J Dilla succumbed to complications from Lupus. Donuts Are Forever™ began as a celebration of life and the acknowledgement of a prolific music career from fans and music lovers.

Nina Sol

Hasan Insane

If you're in the know in New York City, chances are you've heard of Hasan.

Maybe you've seen the Washington Heights native spinning the fire that fuels legendary parties like Brunch Bounce, Pizza Zoo, The 9AM Banger and The R&B Party. Or maybe you've heard his name shouted out on one of your favorite podcasts, like on Jubilee's The Pre Game or, most infamously, The Bodega Boys ("HASAN, TIRAME LA PISTA"), which he co-produces and edits.

There's also his remixes, which have been played on Hot97 and Soulection Radio and have morphed anthems by the likes of SZA, Miguel, Skyzoo and Mickey Factz into smooth, slow-burning grooves.

Regardless of where you've heard him, the prolific DJ, producer and engineer aims to invoke emotion in whatever he takes on, whether it's pure adrenaline on the dance floor (no table top is safe during his sets) or some peace from his warm production.

You can catch Hasan DJing at his uptown residency every Friday at Locksmith, as well as other well-known venues around the city this fall, like Ludlow House, Brooklyn Mirage, Webster Hall and Kinfolk, among others.
