High Waisted
High Waisted
Quirky 60's garage rock is re-imagined from the nose of a surfboard, making High Waisted feel like a psychedelic lullaby. NYC surf rockers with pop sensibilities, feminist ideals and an affliction for rock and roll. They’ve been called NME Magazine’s “Buzz Band to Watch,” declared “The Ultimate Party Band” by GQ and have received praise from Consequence of Sound, Noisey, and Paste. With their sophomore album ready to debut, the band released an interactive 360 degree music video for their track "Hey Hey" in collaboration with Refinery29, performed a live session at Nylon Magazine, Paste Magazine, as well as a stripped down set for Sofar Sounds. The group spent most of 2016 and 2017 touring the country, playing both Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver. They have supported acts as Brazilian Girls, Shannon and the Clams, Kitten, Titus Andronicus, The Donkeys, Har Mar Superstar, Jessica Hernandez, La Sera, Diarrhea Planet, and La Luz. High Waisted were declared one of the buzziest bands at SXSW 2018 and just completed a 6 week tour supporting a split 7” (Little Dickman Records) which debuted on Billboard, followed by a music video premiere on UPROXX. The group's sophomore record is ready for the world to hear, produced by Tad Kubler (The Hold Steady) and mixed by Arun Bali (Saves The Day). Every show is a party when High Waisted’s lo-fi fuzzy bass, reverb drenched guitars and radiant harmonies mesh to create the melodies of your wave-crashed daydreams. A unapologetic record for hope and strength.
The Furies
Described as “fiery, ferocious, and familiar” lead singer Lee Moretti formed The Furies after coming fresh off the road as Third Eye Blind's multi-instrumentalist and background vocalist. The band built a sound that began with their EP “Omens,” and resulted in two national tours, $20,000 in crowd funding raised, and a 2018 New England Music Award for “Best in State.” With a delivery that’s been described as both “raw and ruthless” as well as “lush with finesse,” the group combines soaring vocal harmonies with instrumental prowess, creating a dense indie sound that leaves a wake both hook driven and haunting. The Furies have shared the stage with the likes of The Ataris, Big Scary, Howie Day, The Indigo Girls, Joan Baez, and Mary Chapin Carpenter among others. With a new album and tour ahead for 2019, these women show no signs of slowing down. And much like their namesake, they mean business.
Treads
"The day started off with Brooklyn’s fully nuclear-warhead, the raw and dirty rockers Treads, who were a big kick in the ass before your first cup of coffee, and was enough to wake you up out of an elephant tranquilizer coma sans-caffeine. The wickedly sloshed band is fronted by the immensely charismatic Emily Madge, who has transferred the project from its previous incarnation of Whiskey Bitches, and is now full-on 1000 proof high-octane rocket fuel. They have a new release in the works, so don’t miss it, as if you possibly could ignore these killers." - Dean Keim
