New Orleans Swamp Donkeys
New Orleans Swamp Donkeys
Possibly one of the most relevant and genuine New Orleans bands today, the Swamp Donkeys specialize in "Traditonal Jass," also known as Hot Jazz and Early Jazz. The band's focus on early greats like King Oliver and Louis Armstrong has created a raving, global following, but it was the Jass-adaptaton of the
theme song from Game of Thrones that resulted in a viral video. Truly, this band spans more than a century, and while they are very oTen called upon for their utterly authentic approach to the traditional,
they're called upon equally as oTen for their brass band and progressive adaptatons. Together with
bandleader James Williams, the band has performed multiple times at New Orleans Jazz Fest, Edinburgh
Jazz & Blues Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, and many other great festivals. They've also opened for
Sting, Simple Minds, Johnny Hallyday, Joe Louis Walker, Rebirth Brass Band, and many others.
Soul Brass Band
Soul Brass Band
Soul Brass Band is exactly what it needs to be: a great New Orleans Brass Band steeped in tradiGon that also plays the perfect party. Day aJer day in New Orleans, this all-star lineup is called upon for its top-flight tradiGonal Brass Band repertoire and Second line Parades; and then night aJer night, they’re called upon again for frontman Derrick Freeman’s signature brass band infusion of classic Soul. In Summer 2016 the band rocked the stage and the street at Ascona Jazz FesGval in Switzerland and Fringe Jazz Fest in Denmark, and they’re coming back to Europe for a full tour in Summer 2017.
