New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars
New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars
The New Orleans Klezmer All-Stars are entering their 27th year as an active performing ensemble. In these times when folk music has meant rigidly sticking to a cliched format or collecting hackneyed stylistic features, the klezmer all stars have attempted to challenge and stretch boundaries...but without sacrificing the most exciting features of social music; driving rhythms, passion, and clear melodies that are sublime but remain memorable.

Using the inspiration of the city where they began, the band has formed a unique approach to traditional melodies and, even more unusual, a way of writing in the style that leads to a sort of Yiddish Impressionism– keeping audiences dancing but cutting to the depths of their cultural imaginations, even where they didn't realize they had one.

The band is formed of a driving rhythm section that, in the past, has featured notables such as Mean Willie Green of the Neville Brothers and Galactic's rising star, Stanton Moore, and Doug Garrison of the Iguanas.

Accordionist Glenn Hartman and guitarist Jonathan Freilich have been providing the driving harmonies and write much of the original material while Galactic’s Ben Ellman (sax) provides the, driven, ecstatic melodies so essential to the klezmer experience.
Rabbi Dan Ain
Preacher and connector, Rabbi Dan Ain gathers those who are open to being reached. He finds holiness in honest conversation, in the spaces where people can say what they really think and allow others to do the same. His latest project Because Jewish creates opportunities for our religious perspectives to be in genuine dialogue with our artists, our musicians and our everyday lives. The Times of Israel says: "Because Jewish represents the zeitgeist of Jewish Brooklyn, circa 2016. Its raison d’être is to offer community and presence amidst the racing speed and technological isolation of the here and now". For the past decade, Rabbi Dan has been curating these offerings around New York City at the 92nd St Y (as Director of Tradition and Innovation), Brooklyn Bowl, (le) poisson rouge and as therabbi of The New Shul. The High Holiday services he leads, with blues musician and cantorial singer Jeremiah Lockwood of The Sway Machinery, is an example of finding meaningful ways to worship in the 21st century – creating experiences that speak to people living in today's world using the language, lessons and music of the past.
Soulfarm was founded in Israel by Grammy Award winner lead guitarist C Lanzbom and guitarist and lead singer Noah Solomon Chase. Their sound has been dubbed as New American music, full melodic song writing and progressive modern arrangements.

Their live shows are full of Mediterranean flavor with captivating guitar leads, dance rhythms and strong percussion breaks. Soulfarm has a wide range of influences from rock and Latin, to Hebrew and Celtic folk music.

Soulfarm has recorded with many well-known musicians such as Perry Farrel and Dispatch; and has opened or performed with Matisyahu, Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin, The Wailers, and George Clinton, to name a few. They have been featured on Fox 5 Good Day New York. On ABC Channel 7 Morning Show as well as the main band for "MY9 Celebrates Israel Day Parade. In 2012 they performed for New York City's biggest festival-Winter's Eve. Through extensive touring throughout the U.S., Europe,Australia and Israel the group has gained great popularity.
