Silver Sound Showdown Music + Video Festival
The 9th Annual Silver Sound Showdown Music + Video Festival returns to Brooklyn Bowl on January 17th, 2018

Silver Sound Showdown is broken in two simultaneous events: A music + video festival AND a battle of the bands. We will showcase 21 of the best music videos and 5 of the best bands anywhere, ever.

The winning band and the director of the winning music video are paired to create a music video worth over $10,000 produced by Silver Sound.
Gabrielle Sterbenz
Gabrielle Sterbenz
Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Gabrielle Sterbenz has just finished her second tour of the UK and Europe opening for rock band Wheatus (Teenage Dirtbag). She has performed in 10 countries on 4 continents as a solo artist and as a backing vocalist for Wheatus, Mike Doughty (Soul Coughing) and Robbie Dupree, with whom she appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. She is featured on Wheatus' Valentine LP, nerdcore hiphop artist MC Frontalot’s releases "Question Bedtime" and "Solved," and Late Cambrian's "Peach." Gabrielle plays regularly with her all-female band and has just released her eponymous LP produced by Wheatus' Brendan B Brown.
Punch the Sun
Punch The Sun is a Queens-based rock quartet fronted by singer, songwriter, and bassist Shannon Söderlund. Shannon, along with guitarist Dru Söderlund, drummer Campbell Youngblood-Petersen, and vocalist Pamela Vachon, bring a trans-genre approach to their harmony-driven sound: pop-rock hooks that are as cerebral as they are catchy, steeped in jazz, punk, gospel, grunge, and funk influences.
Liz and the Lovelies
LIZ AND THE LOVELIES is a Chicago based band fronted by singer/songwriter Liz Chidester. Her songs received recognition by NPR's Newsong Songwriting Competition as the 2014 Mid-west Finalist, the Chicago Music Awards Best Female Vocalist Nominee in 2015, and a New-Song Songwriter Competition Finalist in 2016. Their
new EP Progress Into Simplicity is available on Apple Music, Spotify, and Bandcamp.
Uncle Meg
Uncle Meg is a West Virginian born, Brooklyn-based Transgender rapper who’s visual & lyrical talents have been featured in Paper Magazine, New York Magazine, & Instagrammed by Taylor Swift. In 2016, not only did Uncle Meg release his debut 15-track album titled, ‘Bug’, but he also started going by his/him pronouns, beginning a personal exploration with his gender expression. ‘Can’t Stay The Same’ is Uncle Meg's next musical release, to be released for free download on his Soundcloud page December 1st, 2017. The ten track duet album with MC John Debt explores gender and captures the pain from growth and death.
Gracie And Rachel
Gracie And Rachel
Gracie and Rachel are a study in duality: light and dark, classical training with a pop sensibility, Californians in New York. On their debut full-length, Gracie and Rachel pit anxiety and tension against an almost serene self-assurance. The duo announced the album via NPR alongside the introspective video premiere for “Only A Child." The self-titled record (out June 23, 2017) quickly won the hearts of NPR fans who voted them to #4 on NPR’s Your Favorite New Artists, with Bob Boilen describing the music as having “a terrific tension in the sound, an underpinning of mystery set against a baroque, but modern, pop foreground.” The duo has since recorded an NPR Tiny Desk Concert and a Paste in-studio session and has been featured on Billboard, Nylon, Salon, and Blackbook amongst other notable outlets.

The duo’s music is a compelling juxtaposition of Gracie’s piano and lead vocals and Rachel’s violin and voice, augmented with stark percussion. The nine orchestral pop songs on Gracie and Rachel tell a story that’s rooted in the truth —their truth — but retain an enigmatic air that makes them relatable to anyone who has ever found their heart racing with doubt and pushed forward regardless or triumphed in subverting expectations imposed from without. Seen on stages with Julien Baker, Lucy Dacus, Joseph, Ani DiFranco, Tall Heights, and San Fermin, the live experience displays a passionate, tangible quality to their deeply rooted bond, an intimate connection that is vibrantly apparent on stage and equally imprinted on their record.
