The Zen Tricksters
The Zen Tricksters
“Before there was a jam band scene, there were The Zen Tricksters…”

- Rolling Stone’s Frickes Picks by David Fricke

The roster of current Zen Tricksters includes some of the most venerable musicians in the Jam Band scene today. Originating from Long Island, New York, this band has played together and apart for over 35 years and its members are not only “life long” Zen Tricksters, but play and have played with other bands of renown, including Dark Star Orchestra, Phil Lesh and Friends, The Other Ones, The Dead, and Assembly of Dust. They have performed over the years with such artists as Levon Helm, Peter Rowan, Vassar Clements, The New Riders of the Purple Sage, Buddy Cage, David Nelson, Bob Weir, Donna Jean Godchaux, Tom Constanten, and many more. Their performances feature originals from their three studio albums, classic songs and Grateful Dead renditions which are their trademark.

This is a rare performance not to be missed!
Ominous Seapods
Ominous Seapods
The Ominous Seapods were a nineties jam band spawning from Plattsburgh, New York and eventually settling in Albany, New York. At the height of their popularity, their line up included Max Verna (guitar, vocals), Dana Monteith (guitar, vocals), Tom Pirozzi (bass guitar, vocals), Brian Mangini (keyboards) and Ted Marotta (drums). Todd Pasternack replaced Max Verna after he left the band in 1998.

The band released its debut CD, Econobrain (1994) and followed up with Guide to Road Side Ecology (1995), their first studio disc. Later releases included Jet Smooth Ride (1997), Matinee Idols (1998) and Superman Curse (2000). Through continuos touring the Ominous Seapods built up a dedicated national following and performed such notable venues as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, the Wetlands Preserve in NYC, and the House of Blues in LA, Boston and Chicago. The band parted ways in 2001 and have since played a handful of reunion shows. Their last performance was in December of 2011.

Ominous Seapods will be reuniting for the weekend of January 13th and 14th. The line up will include Max Verna, Dana Monteith, Tom Pirozzi, Brian Mangini and Ted Marotta.
