Morricone Youth

Screening of Night of The Living Dead in full accompanied by an original live score by Morricone Youth!

MORRICONE YOUTH was formed in 1999 with a mission statement to compose, re-interpret, perform and/or record "music written for the moving image" (film/tv soundtracks, library music, etc.) in all incarnations from playing shows dedicated to specific composers/film genres with projections to live scoring films in theaters. Over the years, we've released CDs, toured and had residencies at the Knitting Factory, CBGB, Tonic and, most recently, Nitehawk Cinema. Brooklyn Academy of Music commissioned us to write an original score to Hitchcock's "THE LODGER" performed to a sold out audience on Halloween 2013. Philadelphia Museum of Art commissioned a multi-media piece for its Marcel Duchamp exhibit in 2012. MassMoCA chose the band this summer for its annual outdoor film screening to live score MAD MAX. We have upcoming live scores/shows at Alamo Drafthouse Brooklyn and Yonkers, Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn's Prospect Park, Monty Hall and Nitehawk Cinema. Band members have scored for documentaries, short films, etc. and include current/past members of bands Creedle (Cargo/Headhunter), Crash Worship (Charnel), Pain Teens (Trance Syndicate), Pronto (Wilco side band), aMiniature (Restless), Fruit Bats (Sub Pop), Palomar (Self-Starter), rust (Atlantic), Skeleton Key (Capitol), Tredici Bacci (NNA Tapes) and The Rugburns/Steve Poltz (Priority/Mercury). Separately, we started COUNTRY CLUB RECORDS in 2001 to self-release CDs/digital albums for various projects, e.g., Morricone Youth, Pretendo, The DaoSon For and Creedle.
