Donuts Are Forever 11
Donuts Are Forever™ (established in 2007) is Rare Form's annual fundraiser and tribute inspired by the life and music of late producer James "J Dilla" Yancey. The name Donuts Are Forever™ (DAF) pays homage to J Dilla's last album, Donuts, released posthumously in February 2006, when J Dilla succumbed to complications from Lupus. Donuts Are Forever™ began as a celebration of life and the acknowledgement of a prolific music career from fans and music lovers. Now entering its ninth year, DAF continues to grow organically, while remaining rooted in paying tribute to one of our musical heroes.
J. Period
J. Period
Hailed as a “music guru” by Rolling Stone and cited among the “world’s Top DJ’s” by The New York Times, J.PERIOD is a master of his craft: a musical storyteller whose work bridges cultures, generations and styles.

Credited with "Album Production and Arrangement" for the best-selling Hamilton Mixtape, J.PERIOD's most recent work has taken his unique approach to album production to unforeseen heights: an unprecedented #1 debut on Billboard Hot 200 Albums and one of 2016's best albums. And with that #1 album, one thing has become clear: J.PERIOD albums transcend the definition of a "mixtape," weaving music and narrative into a cohesive whole, and elevating hip hop's most essential form into the realm of high art. Little wonder why music icon and cultural critic Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson (The Roots, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon) calls J.PERIOD "the most creative mixtape producer of all-time.”

As an original composer, J.PERIOD's work has been featured in the EMMY® award-winning film The Doctor, the critically-acclaimed EPIX original series America Divided, the NBA's flagship series Inside Stuff, as well as major film trailers for Universal Pictures' American Gangster, Fox Searchlight's Street Kings, and more.

As Music Supervisor for the Brooklyn Nets’ at Barclays Center, J.PERIOD's custom-curated soundtrack won rave reviews as the new standard for music in the NBA arena (ESPN). He is also credited with producing the Brooklyn Nets' opening theme song in both of its first two seasons at Barclays Center.

J.PERIOD's innovative performance series, including The Live Mixtape and The Art of The Crossfade, have been featured at the historic launch of the Smithsonian NMAAHC, the premiere of The Roots Picnic NYC in Bryant Park, SXSW and TED Talks. J.PERIOD has also performed around the globe as Tour DJ for artists including Black Thought, The Roots, Lauryn Hill, Q-Tip & Kanye West at venues ranging from NJ's famed MetLife Stadium to Johannesburg’s Coca-Cola Dome.
