They’re an eccentric, motley bunch who have more in common with Half Man Half Biscuit and Pulp than they do with their oft-compared influences The Fall. Vocalist Eddie Argos (an ex-goth obsessed with Jonathan Richman and Vincent Van Gogh) had previously been in a band, The Art Goblins, in his hometown of Bournemouth. Their stage show would see him playing a vacuum cleaner and escaping from a sack.

Quintus walks the underground of self-endorsed ‘musicians’ and Reuben Chess, the affront man of the band and alleged ‘Songwriter That Sings’ is rumored to be a carrier of contagious melodies. “He’s a Song-u-nist!” snarfs Downtown Records executive Joe Douche. Others suspect he’s the illegitimate spawn of Chess Records founder, Phil “Cadillac” Chess. However, in a recent show of solidarity, Quintus has been anointed by Moonshine as the unofficial house band at New York’s Bowery Poetry Club. Currently, Quintus is declassifying their audio files in the form of a full-length recording. The band’s EP “The Shape We’re In” (produced by and featuring musical pioneer Levon Helm) can be downloaded via facebook.

ECLECTIC METHOD

SOLD OUT
The Disco Biscuits have entered their second decade as one of the most successful acts on the jam-band circuit. In the years since the mid-’90s, the Disco Biscuits have brought together the worlds of jam bands and electronic music with its “trance-fusion” sound that mixes the free-form improvisations of jazz with the hypnotic rhythms which provided the soundtrack for rave culture. In the process, the band has garnered critical acclaim and a loyal fanbase.

Eclectic Method helped pioneer the emerging art of audio-visual mixing since first cutting U2’s Mysterious Ways music video with the Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic as an experiment back in 2002. The trio’s audio-visual mash-ups feature television, film, music and video game footage sliced and diced into blistering, post-modern dance floor events. It’s a cyclone of music and images mashed together in a world where Kill Bill fight scenes and Dave Chappelle’s Rick James rants are ingeniously cut and looped over bootleg samples, DVD scratches and pumped-up dance anthems.

BOB WEIR, ROB WASSERMAN & JAY LANE are
// SCARING THE CHILDREN //
Tonight, Brooklyn Bowl has the honor of presenting the surreal musical tapestry that is Scaring the Children, fronted by former Grateful Dead rhythm guitar legend Bob Weir, with Rob Wasserman on bass, and Jay Lane on drums.
To commemorate this very special show, Laura Cline of Learned Evolution has designed an extra special, hand-made, hand-printed limited edition poster that will be on sale at the show, seen above. 85 artist-signed posters will be on sale, as well as 15 posters signed by the entire band!
COME EARLY. STAY LATE.
As always with shows at Brooklyn Bowl, the ideal experience is to come early soon after 6pm doors, eat some munchies by Blue Ribbon, and jump on the lanes before the crowds come for showtime, and of course stay late to dance the night away at our weekly MIDNIGHT METHOD dance parties with audio-visual DJ phenoms Eclectic Method.

// KRAAK & SMAAK :: FORT KNOX FIVE //
From Holland, through Motown, past Fatboy Slim and into uncharted territory…
Doors 6:00pm :: Show 9:00pm :: 21+

Heineken, Van Gogh, Kraak & Smaak. The three most famous things to come out of Holland. Ever. In that order. Ok so maybe a bit of an exaggeration but the last three years have been an incredible ride for the band considered to be Holland’s hottest live act and as they release their second album things seem set to get even crazier. Since releasing their debut album Boogie Angst they have played over 300 live band and dj gigs and they’ve been hailed by I-DJ as a “Must see live band”.
The FORT KNOX FIVE is a leading force in the international funk and breaks scene. Having released an arsenal of floor rocking singles and remixes, the FORT KNOX FIVE has the midas touch for producing heavy hitting records.
