Turns out, you don’t have to be German to dig David Hasselhoff. No, you just have to experience Fall on Your Sword to consider yourself a convert. Don’t worry, this expert A/V assault team won’t batter you with the Hoff’s tunes; their original electro-disco jams are paired with slyly edited video clips of vintage Hasselhoff buffoonery (think Knight Rider, and various unfortunate music-vid endeavors). Other tracks accompany equally hilarious clips, like a Captain Kirk-off featuring Shatner himself, and Oliver-singing robots. Tonight they hit Cameo’s Pulled Pork party, whose DJs Gunnie & T. Clute keep the dance party going after the live performance.

Glint was conceived by Jase Blankfort (NYC) and Mateus Tebaldi (Brazil) in New York City, quickly deemed an irresistible live act in the electronic art rock scene by Billboard Magazine. This acclaim was given when the project was in its early stages, as a duo consisting of Blankfort and drummer Tebaldi. Shortly after the release of Sound in Silence, Jase and Mateus met Alon Leventon (Tel Aviv), filling the role of keyboards and synthesizers, and bassist Dave Johnsen (Brooklyn). The group’s first show took place in Central Park in spring of 2008, followed by an immediate rise to New York’s prominent stages, and more recently, international demand. Operating independently through Rely Records, the label co-founded by Glint, the band first found the ears of the music media through Sound in Silence in 2008 produced by Blankfort & Tebaldi. Since meeting, Blankfort and Leventon have become musical conspirators and an innovative production duo.

Towards the end of 2006, three friends – Dave Okumu (Jade Fox, Matthew Herbert), Tom Herbert (Jade Fox, Polar Bear) and Leo Taylor (Gramme, Zongamin, Matthew Herbert) – started work on what was initially intended as Dave’s solo project. An exciting, beautiful album gradually emerged and during the process of its creation the three Londoners fused into a fully-fledged trio; The Invisible was born.

MIDNIGHT MAGIC

Doors 6:00pm :: Show 9:00pm :: 21+

Gordon Voidwell is the alter-ego of a Bronx-born ex-chorister turned rap geek, Will Johnson A multi-instrumentalist, a trained vocalist and a published fashion writer, his music is subversive pop & funk, following in line with Tom Tom Club, Madonna, Prince, David Bowie, and George Clinton. He uses analog synthesizers and chunky drum machines as the backdrop for silky, reverb-drenched vocals – reminiscent of Cameo, New Edition and other championed 80s R&B crooners. Blending old sounds with updated lexicon, Voidwell creates a sonic collage – one that is oh so familiar but at once strange and unusual. This is the point; to embrace the immense void that exists between seemingly opposite ideas of past and future, hip and dorky, pop and indie etc. etc.. That void is the well from which Gordon drinks and he invites you to do the same. “Ivy League Circus” will be released on by Latchkey Recordings as a fully mixed/mastered/produced single available on iTunes. – RCRD LBL

The FADER and Brooklyn Bowl have teamed up for the first ever FADER BOWL and we couldn’t be more stoked to bring the Ambassador of Boogie Funk himself, DAM-FUNK, to the Bowl! We are also celebrating the release of ‘Toeachizown’, his incredible new album. Headquartered in the Leimert Park section of L.A., Dãm (pronounced: ‘Dame’ as in Damon) spent the last few years cultivating a musical renaissance rooted in the early-’80s styles known as Boogie, Modern Soul and Electro-Funk. As a DJ/selector, Dãm attracts the most discerning Boogie Funk afficionados within driving distance of his storied Monday-night Funkmosphere parties. But it’s not just collectors at the bar toasting to the melodic sounds. Anyone who grooves to the likes of Slave, Aurra, early Prince, Prelude Records and the like, will get a dose of those groups’ unknown contemporaries – more obscure but equally Funk-worthy.
