Bosco Delrey, producer and purveyor of experimental pop and rock n roll, spent early 2011 playing in support of like-minded, genre-blurring acts Sleigh Bells and CSS, previewing his debut LP, Everybody Wah, for crowds across the United States. Hailing from New Jersey by way of Memphis, Bosco's production and musicianship reference the sounds of Sun Studios-era recordings, southern rap, church hymns and dancehall, updating lo-fi guitar twang with pop beats and vintage synthesizers to create a wall of distorted dance-grunge. This seemingly impossible alchemy first materialized in late 2010 with a pair of stellar 7-inches, "Wild One/Evil Lives" and "Space Junky/My My Racecar" released on Diplo's Mad Decent imprint, both of which are also available digitally.
The finishing touches of the predominantly bedroom-produced Everybody Wah were recorded in the summer of 2010 at the acclaimed Memphis, TN studio of Doug Easley (White Stripes, Sonic youth, Pavement, Wilco, Cat Power). The record sees the crystallization of what Los Angeles's KCRW has called "perfectly surreal pop beat troubadourism for modern America....Hopeful, absurd, shambolic, catchy, and lean....great for singing along while tearing your bills and job applications into party confetti!"
The remainder of 2011 will see the release of remixes by legendary producers Mike D and Ad Rock of the Beastie Boys, as well as live appearances at Mad Decent's Block Parties in New York, Chicago and LA, the CMJ Music Marathon, and a headline show at Brooklyn's Glasslands Gallery on November 10th.
"[Bosco is] a sort of garbage can Elvis from New Jersey... teaspoon craziness, a pinch of rockabilly, and full cup of soul dressed in a leather jacket. He can't be topped as far as song writing... He's doin’ the music I wish I could if I had bought a guitar." -Diplo
"The future is looking bright for this hillbillyhall pioneer." - Dazed & Confused
TEEN is a Brooklyn group fronted by Teeny Lieberman (formerly of Here We Go Magic), her two sisters Katherine and Lizzie, and Jane Herships. The band last year released In Limbo, its debut record for influential label Carpark Records (Beach House, Cloud Nothings).
"colonises the liminal space between harmony pop and spacecraft noise with giddy style." Uncut Magazine
"Complete with gorgeous harmonies and an intricate wall of sound that is somehow both delicate and powerful." FILTER
