The Stooges Brass Band is one of the elite brass bands in New Orleans. Whether performing in the streets of the Big Easy at a second line parade or at a festival or venue, the Stooges Brass Band consistently deliver a welcome blast of true New Orleans spirit. Since 1996, their high energy show has engaged audiences with their innovative blend of traditional New Orleans brass sounds, jazz classics and contemporary hip-hop beats.
The Stooges Brass Band have served as musical ambassadors on tours to Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. As for the upcoming months, the band will continue their musical rampage with numerous upcoming performances at festivals, venues and events.
Like the unique combination of a Parkway Surf & Turf Po’ Boy, the Outer Borough Brass Band deliciously melds the precision of jazz with the soul of the second line. Blending crisp technique and dirty funk, the OBBB delivers authentic Nola brass band grooves to the boroughs of NYC, augmented by a secret weapon: a barrelhouse piano that puts a rollickingly fresh spin on classic covers and throbbing... originals that sound as though they were written 30 years ago. Led by Loyola University New Orleans alum Joe Scatassa, the OBBB’s lineup is chock-full of ringers, Crescent City veterans, and NYC mainstays who have logged time with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Bonerama, Honey Island Swamp Band, New Orleans Nightcrawlers, Afroskull, and many others. After putting numerous unsuspecting hips in motion during their debut on Mardi Gras Day 2011, the Outer Borough Brass Band has quickly ascended to share the stage with the likes of Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels Brass Band, Glen David Andrews, the Joe Krown Trio, and many other modern-day titans of New Orleans music. Hold your hanky high because the Outer Borough Brass Band is in town. Get ready to get down.
