The J. Period Live Mixtape ft.
The J. Period Live Mixtape ft.
The J.Period Live Mixtape is a first-of-its-kind concept: a mixtape recorded live onstage starring legendary MC Black Thought (The Roots). The night showcases Black Thought ripping rhymes over new and classic hip hop hits, Roots fan favorites, and a finale segment where Thought pays tribute to his favorite MCs by impersonating them with his spot on on-stage impressions (as on The Roots’ “Boom”). Imagine taking one of your favorite mixtapes from back in the day where the DJ selected a variety of classics back-to-back song-after-song, done live by J.Period and with Black Thought there to walk you thru. The chemistry between this DJ and this emcee is purely magic on stage giving all those in attendance a performance to remember. The back-and-forth chemistry on stage is truly natural, leading to their decision to take the energetic show on the road, already wowing fans in Los Angeles, Toronto and San Francisco. J.Period and Black Thought released a online download of the audio recording from their Toronto show, creating major buzz amongst fans worldwide, anxious for the act to come to their city. Tamir Z. Brown & Lyrics To Go Entertainment are proud to bring this dynamic show to Brooklyn Bowl for what’s sure to be a classic night!! Let's Get It, Let's Go!!!
Black Thought
Black Thought
Black Thought is the ultimate “emcee.” Ask anybody who is a fan of hip hop and chances are they will note that this man embodies what a true emcee is. Usually one to sneak under the radar when the “best of all time” talk comes up, Black Thought is not one to tell you how good he is, make videos about it, and then rap more about it. Instead, he presents his raw skills, his talent, and his words on stage and it all speaks for itself. A large piece of the puzzle that is The Roots, his “words inspire, but never expire. Transcend, but never depend. Thought provoke, but never choke.” Black Thought can be seen weeknights on NBC’s Jimmy Fallon where The Roots have transformed the late night house band concept. On millions of televisions nationwide, he regularly displays his ability to attack the microphone in just about any way. www.theroots.com
