Sophistafunk
Sophistafunk
Fans across America are talking about Syracuse-based Sophistafunk, the product of three multi-talented musicians — Adam Gold, Jack Brown, & Emanuel Washington — who combine spoken-word artistry, old-school hip hop & funky rhythms to create a unique live band experience.

The band met in 2007 and rapidly evolved into a national-touring live act. Known for their HUGE sound (created by only three members), the band has won over crowds with a captivating stage presence and tight musicianship. Rooted by old school funk / hip hop, the trio explores electronic dance grooves while infusing each tune with soul and positively charged lyrics. Sophistafunk is a multi-genre tour de force, jam packed with vintage tones and live instruments.

For six years, this road warrior band has been hitting the pavement and blowing minds across the United States. They've collaborated live with greats spanning Bernie Worrell (Parliament/Talking Heads) to Nikki Glaspie (Beyonce/Dumpstaphunk) and were featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives when Gold’s restaurant and music venue, Funk n’ Waffles, was featured on the show on December 25, 2012. Host, Guy Fieri, dug the band so hard, they've since played his birthday party in Santa Rosa, CA and became the first band ever to play the International Home and Housewares Convention in Chicago, IL on March 3, 2013, by Fieri’s personal request.

Sophistafunk has played high-profile venues including The Blue Note Jazz Club (NYC), The Boom Boom Room (San Francisco), The Belly Up (Aspen), Brooklyn Bowl (NYC) and more and supported acts including Soulive, G. Love, Foreigner, Trombone Shorty, Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk, EOTO, Marco Benevento and more. They've also gained attention from publications including New York City’s Village Voice and Beyond Race Magazine.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong
Funk, Rock, Electric ENERGY: These four Pigeons bring it every night. Based out of Baltimore, MD, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong has an undeniably unique and versatile live sound that ascends peaks of musical ecstasy. Their evolving arrangement of original compositions, psychedelic improvisational jams, and contagious smiles have ‘The Flock’– their self-identifying fanbase that stretches from coast-to-coast– coming back for more. One of the fastest growing emerging artists in the jam and festival scene these days, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong is here to bring the party with their danceable electro-funk grooves and infectious ability to bring positive energy to any environment.

Having launched their East Coast buzz from very successful weekly residencies at The 8×10 in Baltimore, high profile festival spots including Catskill Chill, The Werk Out, Camp Barefoot, Wormtown Music Festival and others have put the memorable band name on the lips of music lovers and groove nuts. As a result, the grass roots response to the more than 200 shows the band played in 2013 was remarkable, with significant audiences showing up for first time plays in new markets from Colorado to Florida.

As Pigeons continue to expand their touring they continue to grow their Flock and expand people’s minds (musically…). Whether it be at a major festival or your local rock club, Pigeons will show you a good time. Get ready for some fun…
Chemicals of Creation (Dub-Reggae DJ Set)
Chemicals of Creation (Dub-Reggae DJ Set)
Chemicals of Creation is a high energy, electronic dance experience curated by DJ/Producers Devon James Stewart (devon.james) and John Kunz (Dr.Teeth). The two came together after meeting in an audio production class in the Winter of 2010 at Syracuse University. Having been DJing, and practically running the underground party scene at school since sophomore year. Their parties earned a reputation for being the most wild, innovative, and exciting the campus had to offer. As the popularity of electronic music grew, Chemicals of Creation became one of the most in demand acts in Syracuse. They gained even more exposure after winning a DJ competition at Syracuse University, earning them an opportunity to open for Steve Aoki. With this momentum, they began spreading their infectious and diverse blends of sounds to other cities in the Northeast. Refusing to slow down the duo continues to play clubs, festivals, and other events across the globe.
When these two come together the music gets loud, the floors shake, and the people get wild. This energetic pair is constantly researching, downloading, remixing, and producing music of different genres in an attempt to connect people together musically and culturally. Their influences break down musical barriers and connect genres like Reggae and Hip Hop with Soulful House and Electro. Their extensive knowledge of other cultures, paired with the hard work of staying on top of the most current underground and popular movements, produces magical results in their live show and on the dance floor.
Chemicals of Creation are known for the atmosphere they create in their live shows and have shared the stage with the likes of Tiesto, Skrillex, Major Lazer, Steve Aoki, Porter Robinson, Dillon Francis, Datsik, Zeds Dead, Felix Da Housecat, Flux Pavillion, Dr. P, Nadastrom, Sazon Booya, RJD2, Lunice, Paul Devro, DJ Sega, Nit Grit, DJ Craze, Daedelus, Tokimonsta, and Two Fresh – to name only a few.
