Raw Femme Showcase
In today’s society, art and especially female artists have been pushed to the back burner, discouraging many to express themselves as individuals. Raw Femme’s vision is to put a halt to that, and turn it around.
Raw Femme began as online publication that put a spotlight on the talent of emerging female artists, but has quickly transformed into a society that unites ambitious and innovative women from around the world, and we’re spreading like wildfire. We are a multi-faceted, artistically inclined platform fueled by creative and artistic women that hosts local female-centric events, produces online editorial content, and collaborates with other like-minded organizations. Are you feeling inspired yet?
All women with a love for the arts are welcome to join this community of outside-the-box spirits. Share your gift with the rest of the world!
School of Rock
Unlike traditional music education, School of Rock offers an immersive experience getting kids out of the lesson room and onto the stage. Students not only learn how to play their instruments, they get to learn how to make music with other musicians too. Students are placed into bands and get to learn from and perform some of the most iconic music ever written on some of the finest stages our city has to offer.
Kaylie Foster is a 24 year-old local Las Vegas singer-songwriter. With a passion for music stemming from her early childhood, Kaylie has been on a quest to make a life-long career out of her music. Having grown up around an eclectic mix of sounds, she believes that her music should have no limits; and the result is a truly unique sound that comes from the heart.
“I’ve always had a passion for music and writing songs. I think I was about 10 or 11 when I wrote my first song.” — K. Foster
Performing locally around the city of Las Vegas since the summer of 2015, Kaylie has had unique opportunities to showcase her voice and songwriting skills alongside other talented musicians.
You might not know her by name, but Halsey Harkins has already mastered the musician’s hustle. The 23-year-old Las Vegan, whose vocal style falls somewhere between Norah Jones and Madeleine Peyroux, regularly subs as a pianist for Steve Wynn’s ShowStoppers, Jersey Boys and Wayne Newton. Recently, she launched a solo project when plans for another venture unexpectedly fell through. Harkins grew up in Las Vegas, listening to bands like The Strokes and The Vines even as she studied in the jazz program at Las Vegas Academy. Harkins graduated from UNLV with a bachelors’ in jazz performance in 2015, building skills that landed her a steady gig as a professional pianist, and helped her craft unique, original material. –Las Vegas Weekly
Candy Warpop is a nihilistic storm of art punk and dark psychedelia. Incubated under the debauched neon of Las Vegas, this audacious quartet (Amy Pate on Vocals/Guitar :: Anisa Marie on Drums :: Joshua Chévere Cohen on Guitar :: Jonas Woolverton on Bass) is unrestrained by conventional musical standards. The raw flow of eccentric creation and kaleidoscopic illustration creates a sonic balancing act on the razor's edge between beauty and destruction, euphony and dissonance, love and chaos.
Jessica Manalo is a Las Vegas based soul singer, performing her strong original material both acoustically and with her backing band. She has performed at venues such as the Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, Vinyl, Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas and performed for Lauryn Hill's official after party at the SLS Sayers Club. Manalo has opened for recognized, waving artists such as Allen Stone, JMSN, Lawrence Taylor, and performed with opening act for Emily King's "Switch Tour". The songwriter has gained attention from local press and media such as Desert Companion, Smash Magazine, and Las Vegas Weekly, winning "Best New Voice" of 2016 and has been featured on the international music show, BalconyTV.
Manalo released her self-titled EP in 2015 and completed her "Silence Tour" June of 2016. She will be releasing singles in early 2017. Jessica Manalo is on a hungry journey to share her love for soul music and heart felt lyrics with the world.
"I want people to feel what I feel when I sing."
Every lyric is written from personal experience and while many involve heartbreak and opposition, she focuses on finding the strength to overcome.
