Jimmy Bosch y su Sexteto del Otro Mundo
Jimmy Bosch y su Sexteto del Otro Mundo
“... a trombonist obsessed with riffs and excitement, and with the honesty and excellence of the music.” - The New York Times

Known as the Ambassador of Hard Salsa (Embajador de la Salsa Dura), Jimmy Bosch has toured the globe and has headlined at international Venues, Festivals and Salsa Congresses in: Warsaw; Zurich; Frankfurt; Bor-deaux; Marseille; New York; Los Angeles; Chicago, San Antonio, Vera Cruz, Mexico, Carnegie Hall, NJPAC, Hollywood Bowl, Ravinia, Paris, Morocco, Milan, Rome, Vic Fezensac, North Sea Jazz, Yoshi’s and more.

At age 10 in a Hoboken, New Jersey grammar school, Jimmy Bosch was offered a trombone. It did not take long time for Jimmy to embrace the instrument. He was able to transform it into an expression of his own instinctive and unique creativity.

By age thirteen Jimmy was performing on stage with local bands. His desire and determination for expressing what he heard in his mind and felt in his heart allowed him to perform with Manny Oquendo & Libre - one of the most soulful Latin bands. His skill for improvisation was the ticket for Jimmy to get a job with Libre from 1978 on.

Throughout his career, Jimmy has perfected the expressive style of playing the trombone, which has become his trademark. Jimmy is famous for the countless performances in which he has captivated the public with flaring melodies and rhythmic patterns charged with soul, intensity, and funk. Known by many as “El Trom-bon Criollo” for his style of improvising percussively, Jimmy expertly embraces the challenge of incorporating his gutsy, heartfelt energy to any musical experience which comes his way.

Mr. Bosch has performed, toured and or recorded with Ruben Blades and Son del Solar, Eddie Palmieri, Perfecta Combinacion, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto, Manny Oquendo, Cachao, and more. Mr. Bosch began his own role as a band leader and composer in 1996 when he debuted the “Jimmy Bosch Orchestra” The debut was critically acclaimed by The New York Times and El Diario, and was well-accompanied by a house full of adoring fans. Mr. Bosch’s compositions include flavors of Bronx-style funk, sultry guajiras, swinging cha-chas and poetic lyrics.
