The New Mastersounds
The New Mastersounds
The New Mastersounds formed in Leeds UK in 1999 and cut their teeth as the resident live band at a hip dance club, playing every Friday and Saturday night for nearly two years.

A rough 8-track recording of an early rehearsal got into the hands of some London DJs, and was released soon after on two limited-edition 7” singles. Invitations to play club gigs in London soon followed, and before long the band had established a reputation around UK and Europe as forerunners of the deep funk revival scene. Fast-forward to 2004: having experimented with various line-ups and recorded 2 albums, the original 4-piece band was invited to Chicago to open for the Greyboy All Stars at the House of Blues. This gig kicked off a prolific live career in USA which continues to the present day, backed up by more studio records, live albums, a remix album and 2 compilations. Their quirky, catchy instrumental ditties have been used on TV and film soundtracks, and the band is the subject of an award-winning feature-length documentary: “Coals to Newcastle: The New Mastersounds – from Leeds to New Orleans”.

Over the years they have collaborated or jammed with an impressive array of musicians DJs and producers, including: renowned drummer Bernard Purdie, Lou Donaldson (Blue Note), Corinne Bailey Rae (EMI), Quantic (Tru Thoughts), Carleen Anderson (Young Disciples / Brand New Heavies), Keb Darge & Kenny Dope (Kay Dee Records), John Arnold (Ubiquity), Mr Scruff (Ninja Tune), Snowboy (Ubiquity), Fred Everything (2020vision), Andy Smith (Portishead), James Taylor (JTQ), LSK (Faithless), Lack of Afro (Freestyle), Page McConnell (Phish), Karl Denson (Lenny Kravitz / Greyboy AllStars), Melvin Sparks (Blue Note Records), George Porter Jr (The Meters), Fred Wesley, Maceo Parker (JB’s), and Art Neville (Neville Brothers, The Meters).

The band tours in support of the latest studio record, “Made For Pleasure”, released Fall 2015.

Erik Deutsch Band
One could easily imagine that Erik Deutsch lives inside a piano. Thus it's no surprise that some of the worlds most demanding performers request Erik for their keyboard accompaniment. If they're lucky, they can catch him in the rare moments when he's not leading his own group through a truly modernist take on the jazz tradition.

Having first come to prominence as a member of the funk-jazz collective Fat Mama (with drummer Joe Russo), Erik has taken his talents across the globe to play with some of the finest musicians alive. Born in Washington D.C. but currently living in Brooklyn, NY, Erik exists in many musical worlds, touring and recording with pop artists like Norah Jones, Rosanne Cash, Citizen Cope, Shooter Jennings, Alice Smith, Antony and the Johnsons, Phillip Phillips, Joey Arias, Devotchka, and Erin McKeown; or with jazz artists like Charlie Hunter, Theo Bleckmann, Ben Allison, Scott Amendola, Trevor Dunn, Steven Bernstein, Ellery Eskelin, Jim Campilongo, Nels Cline, Jenny Scheinman, Allison Miller, Todd Sickafoose, and Art Lande.

In 2011 Erik teamed with country icon Shooter Jennings to tour and record two acclaimed records, Family Man and The Other Life. In 2012-13 he played over 100 shows with pop artist Citizen Cope, and spent the rest of 2013 performing in arenas with American Idol winner Phillip Phillips.

Deutsch holds the distinction of being the only keyboardist to tour regularly with 7-string guitar master Charlie Hunter (from 2007 to 2009 he toured and recorded two albums as a member of Charlie's trio).

2012 marked the release of Deutsch's 3rd album as a leader Demonio Teclado, a psychedelic blend of retro soul-jazz and rock. Erik's two previous records ('07 Fingerprint and '09 Hush Money) were met with critical acclaim.
