Nicky Da B
Nicky Da B is a new generation New Orleans Bounce artist who is coming into national prominence in the footsteps of Big Freedia. At 21 years old, Nicky has already shared the stage with all the legends of the Bounce community and has traveled with Rusty Lazer to New York for a run of amazing shows in January and March of this year, performing at Santos Party House, Brooklyn Bowl, Public Assembly and with luminaries such as Roxy Cottontail and many more. Nicky performed at over 10 events at SXSW 2012 many of them on stage with Diplo (Mad Decent) to perform their single “Express Yourself” which has catapulted him into public awareness. Nicky is obsessed with helping Bounce take root at an international level and will be touring the U.S. through most of 2012 while continuing to write and collaborate in genres including Bounce and much more. His musical style is less chop and cut than many of his contemporaries, preferring instead to adopt a percussive attack that relies on verbal gymnastics as much as the outlandish lyrics he writes…which sounds something like the unique vocalizations of Jamaican Dancehall combined with the tried and true, call and response, party-style of NoLa Bounce. Nicky is currently touring with Rusty Lazer and 3 amazing dancers.
Jean-Eric is a positive, enthusiastic, slightly oddball party band from New Orleans with universal appeal and showmanship to spare. Their sound: wild youth embraced and embodied, lounge crunk, nuclear pop.
Jean-Eric honed their skills and paid their dues on the bounce circuit of post Katrina New Orleans where they managed to stand out even among such luminaries as Big Freedia, Katey Red, Sissy Nobby & Mr. Quintron.
Although rooted in and respectful of New Orleans and it's musical traditions, Jean-Eric's open, honest & fun sound and soul are best described in a review by Popstache: "Jean-Eric is not just a NOLA band...its appeal is universal...bombastically fun...painfully catchy."
As much at home on the indie pop/rock stage with euphoric arena pleasers like 'Real World' as in the center of a sissy bounce dance circle with sweat soaked dance-floor makers like 'Ooh Ah Ah', Jean-Eric's unique, positive and endearing music and live shows are a feast of sights and sounds for all to enjoy and, more importantly, to let go to and dance their asses off in the process.
In the last 14 months Jean-Eric has been on three tours (two east coast one west coast) and are booked to play support for The Generationals (11/23 in New Orleans, LA) and the Black Lips on New Years Eve (12/31) at One Eyed Jacks in New Orleans.
Jean-Eric is Frank Jones (vocals), Karen Wallace (vocals), Sheila Santamaria (performance), Brad Davis (drums) & Revel Griffith (bass). Jean-Eric lives together in a house that looks like a castle in Mid-City, New Orleans, with their cat, Mr. Crab.
