    The Festival Tu B Av

Though Tu B'Av is a holiday mentioned in the Talmud, the Observance of this holiday holiday has only recently been revived -- most notably in Israel -- where it is celebrated as the Sephardic/Mediterranean/Hebrew/Ancient equivalent of Valentine's Day, with dancing, the giving of red roses, and the dedication of love songs on the radio.

In the glow of a full summer moon, young women, robed in white, would dance in the fields outside the walls of Jerusalem. The men would follow in hopes of finding a bride. To commemorate this ancient holiday, we present the "attached" and "single" community of NY with the Honey Bowl which will be a celebration with music, dance, drink specials, bowling, mingling!

Our main promotional Sponsor, Jewish Event Guide NY Blueprint is sponsoring free games (Shoe rental included) throughout the evening that we will be giving away by holding a raffle shortly before showtime and again between sets. Sign up now to be included in the raffle. Be Sure to Put an *HB* After your last name to be entered in the raffle.

Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution

Brother Joscephus and the Love Revival Revolution Orchestra is a 12-piece explosion of righteousness that blends feel-good New Orleans party music, Soul in the style of Ray Charles and Al Green, and a righteous helping of jam-bandy Roots Rock.

Over the past two years, the group has established itself in the NYC music scene, regularly playing the best venues in New York City such as Brooklyn Bowl and B.B. King’s. They’ve sold out the Highline Ballroom and shared the stage with New Orleans stalwarts such as the Rebirth Brass Band, Trombone Shorty, Bonerama, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

The Revolution began expanding into other regions in 2009 beginning with 13 shows in 12 days during Jazz Fest in New Orleans. Since then, the group has performed in 12 states and developed a strong presence up and down the eastern seaboard. Many followers have attended recent Revivals from Vermont (Burlington Discover Jazz Festival) and Boston (Harper’s Ferry, Middle East) down to Atlanta (Smith’s Olde Bar)and New Orleans (Blue Nile & Tipitina’s FQ), with stops all along the way.
A Love Revival with Brother Joscephus is more than just excellent original live music. BroJo is also all about the spectacle and pageantry - it’s a life changing EXPERIENCE! The orchestra is decked out in their finest whites (accented with the appropriate gold, purple and green of Mardi Gras). They break out parasols, start each set with a parade through the audience and throw out hundreds of Mardi Gras beads over the course of a show. When the parade starts grooving the crowd can't help but have a good time. It's undeniable!!

Brother Joscephus' message is one of righteousness: spread as much love as possible around!

Derek James and the Lovely Fools

Derek's songs have also been featured on MTV, Lifetime, A&E, and the upcoming "Nude America the Movie." He has performed with Blues Traveler, Eric Hutchinson, Ben Kweller, Sugar Ray, OK Go, Gin Blossoms and many more. Touring both as a solo troubadour with his guitar, kazoo and ukulele in tow, as well as with his band the Lovely Fools, Derek James spends a good portion of his life rolling over gravel.

in 2004 Israeli producer Assaf Spector and Eytan oren wrote and recorded Derek James and the lovely fools album "Stray". in may 2010 derek begin the second album writing/recording with Assaf Spector and Roy Gurel, the album should be released by the fall.
