New Orleans native, Shante Franklin, also known as the acclaimed indie rapper Curren$y, began his career as an artist on No Limit Records. After developing a relationship with Lil' Wayne, he left No Limit in 2005 and signed with Young Money Entertainment where he created music until late 2007. However, due to differences, Curren$y proceeded to take his style and music elsewhere. As an artist, Curren$y has evolved and perfected his lyrical delivery into a very unique sound. He also created the Jets International brand, a fresh approach to the new urban movement.

With his own personal swagger and quick-witted lyrics, he is redefining the essence of what it means to be a southern rapper. As an artist he has built a brand by relentlessly releasing mix tapes, such as "This Ain't No Mixtape" in 2009, and attacking the internet with creative tenacity and conviction for his music. Curren$y has recorded with acclaimed artists such as Lil' Wayne, The Black Keys, The Disco Biscuits, Wiz Khalifa, The Cool Kids, and Mos Def. His latest album, "Pilot Talk," produced by the legendary Ski Beatz, incorporates live instrumentation into Curren$y's recorded live stage performances. Today, Curren$y can often be seen at Damon Dash's New York City media enterprise DD172, where he, as one of the integral artists can often be found in the recording studio working on his next project,
