Featuring DJ Concerned Directly Following the Show

Birthed at the nexus of 2008 and 2009, Yes Giantess was never meant to last more than a few weeks. Members of the band previously played in former incarnations of Passion Pit, the Death Set and so many more. What was to one off party music for them to play with friends suddenly found an online audience

Based out of Boston the four Berkley students were suddenly being asked to play shows across the Atlantic. Their tracks have lit up blog-savvy dancefloors, with high profile pop producers offering the unsigned band their services. The band have just finished recording tracks with the likes of Richard X (Kelis), Hannah Robinson (Ladyhawke) and former Sneaker Pimp Liam Howe.

“We want to bring music back to that point when it was totally bad ass to be a pop star,” says singer Jan. Their songs are equally pre-ordained for electro clubs. – RCRD LBL

Benefitting the Williamsburg Neighborhood Nursery School

The Williamsburg Neighborhood Nursery School welcomes children of all racial religious and ethnic backgrounds. It was founded on the belief that a good early childhood program should provide children and their families with a bridge between the worlds of home and school. The nursery school environment must be both structured and nurturing; it must combine the safety and comfort of home with the social and intellectual stimulation of school.Young children are explorers. They use all of their senses to investigate their world and the people within it. Classroom materials and programs are designed to encourage and enrich this exploration. Teachers act as guides, extending the children’s thinking, setting reasonable limits for their behavior, and helping them grow as independent learners. The Williamsburg Neighborhood Nursery School is chartered by the New York State Department of Education and the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. It is licensed by the New York City Department of Health. The Williamsburg Neighborhood Nursery School is a non-profit educational corporation.

Celebrate Fat Tuesday tonight Brooklyn-style. A Mardi Gras affair, presented by L Magazine and Southern Comfort, features a parade with a marching band and burlesque dancers beginning at 7 p.m. at McCarren Park and Driggs. Costumed revelers and bicyclists are invited to join. The parade will then proceed down Driggs, up Bedford and over to Wythe Avenue, arriving at Brooklyn Bowl around 8 p.m., where prizes await the best bicycle float. The event will be topped off with a performance by the 22-year-old noise-pop artist Nathan Williams — who performs under the alias Wavves (the second “v” is silent). He’ll be performing off his second self-titled album, “dissonant but sparkly, a collection of shimmering synthesizers, distorted vocals and twittering drums,” writes Amanda Petrusich, along with MNDR. -NYTimes.com
