It’s true. BOWLIVE II is happening. Happening big time. And you know what that means. Ten nights of funk-infused jams with SOULIVE and tons and tons of special guests.
Brooklyn Bowl is psyched to announce that at Bowlive II, we will be selling limited edition posters by none other than David Welker, the artist behind Phish’s Rift album art and the beautiful custom screen prints from our Blues Traveler show earlier this year. Only 50 posters were made in total, so not only is this poster awesome, but it’s about to be sold out. They’re only available AT Brooklyn Bowl during Bowlive… so get a move on!!

So, 2010 rocked. We ended the year with December’s LXL, which featured performances by Real Estate and Big Troubles, free salsa from Brooklyn Salsa, art galore by EASTERN DISTRICT, and homemade body products by skinnyskinny. Twas the party of a lifetime. BUT! It is now 2011, and things are about to get even better. We have 8 Local X Local parties comin’ atcha this year. That means EIGHT awesome nights celebrating the best of Brooklyn. So to start it off right, we got Brooklyn’s Bear Hands and Motive in the house.
Local X Local, presented by Brooklyn Brewery, is Brooklyn Bowl’s free monthly show series that celebrates Brooklyn’s best music, food, beer, art, and media. This awesome evening will feature $4 Brooklyn Brewery Lagers, art by She Hit Pause, jewelry by Brooklyn Charm, salsa by Brooklyn Salsa, and an awesome photo booth by bkbooth! Plus, if you know Bear Hands, you know this is just going to be really rad.
In August 2006, Dylan Rau (vocals/guitar) brought together Ted Feldman (guitar), Val Loper (bass) and TJ Orscher (drums) in a small NYC practice space. The original plan was to flesh out some demos Rau had been working on but each quickly saw and heard the potential for a band; a band that would be unique sounding yet widely accessible. Focusing on the rhythm and percussion that Orscher and Loper bring, they strive to bring the driving beat to the foreground and to marry it with the contemplative lyrics of Rau and inventive guitar lines of Feldman. This musical creativity combines and combats ideas set forth by pioneers of the rock genre.
Press has been off the hook for their debut 4 song ep “Golden” which was produced by Andrew Schneider (Cave In, Pelican) and for their live shows. During their many gigs on the East Coast Bear Hands have been fortunate enough to share the stage with bands such as MGMT, Vampire Weekend, Ra Ra Riot, Ambulance Ltd, The Honorary Title etc.
