Seeing as it had been a good eight years since Modest Mouse had previously played in Sin City, last night’s Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas
crowd was definitely hyped to see them perform — the drawn-out sound check well worth the wait. The band, formed in ’92, returned with their talented multi-instrumentalists and distinctive vocals from frontman
Isaac Brock. Setting such a great atmosphere, you could feel the nostalgia flowing through the venue as their set list consisted of an interesting
mix of old and new material, which instantly brought back many
memories for the fans filling the venue.

Modest Mouse opened with one of their familiar hits, “Dramamine,” and it was all crowd pleasers from there on out. The audience was engaged even in the show’s mellowest moments, and not one song was left unsung. The band also performed tracks off their newest release, this year’s Strangers to Ourselves, as the packed crowd pushed all the way to the back of the room, taking in the terrific music and the impressive lighting, which instantly set the vibe throughout the venue. It was a night full of sounds pleasant and boisterous, and Modest Mouse left everyone in attendance wanting more. —Marisa Martello
