Expertly mashing together traditional brass music with funk, hip-hop, and R&B, Stooges Brass Band have been doing work straight out of New Orleans since tuba player Walter “Whoadie” Ramsey got two rival high school marching bands together in 1996. They’ve since become known as a party-starting, energetic live band that’s not to be missed, winning over audiences across the world in the process. And as part of Backbeat Foundation’s eighth annual Export NOLA, Stooges Brass Band return to Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday night.
